Day 1 at our very first Steampunk convention and i had so much fun.
even tho there was a lil bit of a rough start (not getting much sleep, going 2 Home Depot & almost scrappin with a line cutter, having serious wig malfunctions and frustrations, we were off), got there after 11a, got our “traveling papers”, which is what they call badges ( and they let u pick a name..so I chose Steampunk Gadget, not thinking till later, that i wasn’t going to be costume the whole weekend..lol, oh wells).
now it did take a minute to get our papers just cuz we weren’t i the system. we won our tickets at Conji and they gave us a certificate, so it’s a good thing that was in the car, cuz they needed that as proof. so we finally got our papers…yaaaaay!
so we go to the grand bazaar…and walk around, and see so many cool things, meet and chat with some nice ppl. i got recognized early on, and got props for steaming up Gadget…which was very cool. I still feel I have a ways to go with my costume, but ppl thought it was awesome, that it brought them back to their childhood, asked for pics…so fun, fun:). this one fella gave me a very studious eye and then was like “are you?” so i filled in the blank…and he looked so happy and said he had to give me a hug:)
we went 2 some awesome workshops and got some great insight on how to steampunk on a budget and picking a persona:)
now, i’m a picture taker and i learned, or rather, became more aware, that since a lot of the vendors are bringing their own creations and concepts to sell. well i saw some really cool and fancy hats, so I took a pic, the first one came out bad, so i took another one, once i snapped that one, the lady sitting close said ” i really wish you would have asked if it was ok if you took a picture, these are my creations.” i apologized and told her I would delete the pictures…but she said nevermind and looked super annoyed. I did feel bad, and was prepared to delete them…but what was done, was done…and i was lil picture taking shy after that. but i got over it later and took pics once again:)
we took some cool pics at the photo booth, and are gonna go every day since we’ll be dressed differently:)
i was so looking forward to going to the concert and seeing Steam Powered Giraffe…but sadly you had to pay extra for those tickets…and I wanted a picture with Rabbit since i LUV “Honey Bee”…but didn’t have the chance to. and when i did see them…i didn’t wanna interrupt them while they were talkin or eating…so i was only able to get Spine and Hatchworth. but 2morrow is another day:)
and i’m excited…i definitely wanna go again next year:)
